The Hanze Institute of Technology (HIT) aims to be Europe's most advanced, international engineering school, specialising in the field of sensor technology. HIT seeks to identify and reward talent, excellence and innovation.

Sensor Technology
The education offered is based around the theme of sensor technology, which includes aspects of engineering from all disciplines.
Social Relevance
All education is placed within a social context. This enables students to study existing content and gain experience in the future application of a product or service.
International
HIT is an international school, with a faculty, partners and students from around the world. Communication and studies are conducted in the English language. The course is designed to appeal to students from diverse nationalities and cultures, which in turn, will energise the institute and maximise the potential of the education programmes.
Industry
Industry partners play a major role in the institute and Bachelor Programme. Many of the programme's themes have been adopted by companies or institutions with unrivalled expertise in this field; developing course material, providing guest lecturers and building the technical infrastructure.

Het Hanze Institute of Technology (HIT) is de nieuwste, 19e school van de Hanzehogeschool Groningen. Sinds september 2008 kun je hier de bacheloropleiding Sensortoepassingen (officiële naam: Advanced Sensor Applications) volgen.
Sensortoepassingen is een internationale opleiding op het gebied van sensoren. Je leert in deze opleiding:
wat je kunt doen met sensoren;
nieuwe toepassingen van sensoren te bedenken;
wat je met alle data en informatie die een sensor oplevert kunt doen.
Je leert veel over nieuwe technologie en nieuwe manieren om technologie toe te passen in het dagelijks leven.
Wat zijn sensoren?
Sensoren vind je overal. En ze worden steeds meer gebruikt. In bijvoorbeeld de game-industrie (de Wii), de afstandbediening van je televisie, de schuifdeuren in de supermarkt, maar ook in de zorgsector, de bewaking en de landbouw. Eigenlijk zijn sensoren niet meer dan apparaatjes waarmee je iets kunt meten, een soort digitale zintuigen. Een thermometer is een sensor, onder een touch pad zit een sensor, in een hartslagmeter zit een sensor.
Waarom sensortechnologie?
Sensortechnologie is een opkomende technologie met veel mogelijkheden. Toepassingen van sensortechnologie veranderen de wereld en ongekende nieuwe kansen bieden voor de industrie, dienstverlening en publieke sector.
