Transportation

Most people in Argentina use public transportation in the cities. Bus is the most frequently used public transportation. The bus is referred to as “colectivo.” In Buenos Aires they run 24 hours a day and they are inexpensive. There is a subway system in Buenos Aires, the only one in the country, and they call it the “subte.”

There are 32,000 taxis in Buenos Aires. There is an initial fee for getting on the taxis and an additional cost that increases with distance and time.

The train is also commonly uses to move around the city and surrounding areas. Rates vary according to the destination.

Because of the long distances from one city to another within the country, air travel is the best means of transportation.

There are 32 airports in Argentina, 3 of them in Buenos Aires.

Everyone leaving the country has to pay and airport tax of $20.
