Getting Visas to Jamaica
- Tourists
Foreign visitors who are visiting the country for tourism purposes are required to present a national passport or other papers that can identify the nationality and individuality. The passport should be valid for at least 6 months. Tourists are compulsory to show evidence of enough funds to sustain themselves throughout their stay. Visa is issued at port of entry and costs US$20.
- Business Travelers
Foreign and Commonwealth States citizens entering Jamaica to accomplish short-term business, for instance consultations, inspections, meetings, repairs, or technical advice, fall under this category. Every trip should not exceed 30 days. The required documents in traveling to the country on business reasons are valid passport; a visa (if applicable) and round trip ticket.
- Work Permit
Foreigners who desire to be employed in the country, no matter what the nature of employment, are obliged to acquire a work permit before entering Jamaica. The documents required for employment purposes are valid passport; round trip ticket; visa (if applicable); and work permit released by the Social Security and Ministry of Labor.
- Student
Documents required for Student Visa are valid passport; return ticket (valid for 1 year); acceptance letter from the school which the student will be attending; and sufficient funds for everyday expenditure for 1 year.
- Visas to adopt residency
Applicants who have been approved temporary or permanent residence in the country are required to show proof of such approval in advance to the issuance of a single entry.
