The Climate in Poland

Climate in Poland is moderate; winters can be cold and wet. It has the combined elements of Continental and Maritime climate. This variety in Poland’s atmosphere is primarily due to the collision of the wet Atlantic air with the dry air coming from the Eurasian inner. Poland’s climate can be categorized into six discrete seasons, the 4 common European seasons – summer, fall, winter, autumn and two other seasons, early winter (przedzimie) and early spring (przedwiosnie). The length of the seasons in Poland changes from one geographical area to the other.

Warsaw has a continent-wide climate, with cold, winters and summers. During summers the average temperature is between 9°C and 22°C, as winter temperature is between -4°C and 6°C. The wettest month is July, though rain fall periodically throughout the year. Krakow has a moderate climate, influenced by the upwind systems that build over the Atlantic. In Krakow, the weather in summer warm with casual heat waves when dry continent-wide air goes into the east. An old Polish poem tells that in Krakow daytimes are longest in June, hottest in July and most pleasant in August. Autumn in Krakow imparts dry, warm days beginning with morning fog, and rich fortunate coloration of the leaf. Winter is averagely dangerous when the city is spread over in snow and temperatures at or below freezing. The best season in Krakow is spring, when bright, modest days are come with the scent of blossom
