Gastronomy in Saudi Arabia

The people of Saudi Arabia like to eat well whether it be at the table with fork and knife or a rice feat seating on the floor. They will always have an abundance of delicious food.

Saudis do not eat pork or drink alcohol because the Koran forbids it.

Some of Arabia typical dishes are “shikamba”, a creamy soup with lamb meatballs; vegetable and fruit salad made with apples, dates, walnuts, lettuce mayonnaise, yogurt and lemon juice; Kofta made with spinach, ground beef, rice, spices, tomato sauce and onions; stuffed onions with meat and rice.

Arabia's cuisine uses many spices. Some of the usual ones are cumin, cilantro and cinnamon.

A typical dessert is “halva” a sweet pastry filled with dates, dry apricots and chopped walnuts.

Typical drinks are te made of raisins, lemonade, Arabian coffe, and Saudi champagne, a carbonated, non alcoholic fruit beverage.
