Local Services in Vietnam

Getting around Vietnam is not a problem because there is lot of means of transportation in the country. All of the provinces in Vietnam are well connected to each other. The motorbike is the most common way of transportation in Vietnam especially in the city. It is used as a “xe om” (motorbike ride) for pleasure or a cargo for transporting goods like pigs, chickens, and many more. Sometimes you will see a Vietnamese carries his family of 4 people in his motorbike on the streets of Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi. You’ll find some rent-a-motorbike in every corner of the city. Bus and taxi are also available in Vietnam and are two of the major means of transportation. Rail services are also available in the country but it is still slow and adventurous. Vietnam has 3 international airport gateways. It has also had 17 major civil airports. The country also has boat service that is used by tourist and locals conveniently.

Communications is widely expanding in Vietnam because of many investors coming in nowadays. Telephones, radio, television, and Internet are the means of communications here in Vietnam. As of 2004, people using mobile phones reached to 4.96 million and 10,124,900 main lines in use. It is still growing vastly. Of course, postal services are still dependable. As the older Vietnamese uses the postal service, the youth uses the Internet or e-mail. Usage of Internet is abundant in Vietnam at the moment. Two gateways connect to Vietnam: one in Hanoi and the other in Ho Chi Minh City. Hanoi is linked to Hong Kong while Ho Chi Minh City is connected to United States via Sprint.
