Discover the Beauty of Nerja, an Andalusian Town in the South of Spain

Centro de Idiomas Quorum is a small school with an excellent Spanish language programme, a great environment and amazing facilities. Our school is located in Nerja, a seaside town of 20,000 people located 55 km from Malaga´s Pablo Picasso Int´l Airport. The school is in a typical Andalusian house, with classrooms in the ground floor and a small self-catering residence in the 1st floor. What distinguishes Quorum is the quality of our programmes and teachers. Founded in 1999, we are the only accredited centre by the Cervantes Institute in Nerja.

Have you ever heard of the town Nerja, in Andalusia, a province in the south of Spain? Probably not, and you are not alone. Nerja, a town with a rich history that spans thousands of years, is a popular destination in Spain due to its warm climate and wonderful residents.

Originally named Narixa, meaning rich in water, by its Arab inhabitants, Nerja has welcomed many different cultures to its shores. Its history goes back more than 30,000 years ago, when some of the first inhabitants of the area moved into caves located within our town. Since then, Nerja has continued to attract visitors from the entire world. Romans, Arabs, Spanish and many others have inhabited Nerja.

Currently, 20,000 people call Nerja home. This number more than doubles in the summer, when over 50,000 people come down to Nerja to enjoy the beaches, the sun and the night life that make Nerja one of the jewels of the Costa del Sol.

Less than one hour from Malaga's Airport and almost equidistant from the famous Andalusian cities of Granada, Seville, Cordoba, Ronda, and just across from the coast of Morocco, Nerja is known worldwide for its open welcome to all people and for its spectacular caves where an international festival takes place.

There are many attractions in our town. A must for any visitor to the Costa del Sol is an IX century fortification crowned as the Balcony of Europe. In the very heart of Nerja, this romantic setting is today the focus of many cultural activities and a popular meeting place. This scenic promenade adorned with palm trees and exotic plants provides an exceptional view of the Mediterranean. To stroll along the streets and promenades of Nerja is a joy to the eye.

Who wouldn't envy Nerja´s 16 km of coastline, over 3,500 hours of annual sunshine and temperatures that average 25º C in summer and 15º in winter?

These are some many reasons why thousands of people come to Nerja every year.
