Learn A New Language With Cactus Language

There are a number of reasons why people may want to learn a new language. Travellers, for example, benefit greatly from speaking other languages as it offers an opportunity to dig a little deeper into the communities they visit. Anyone working in business will also be aware that speaking more languages makes for many more potential customers. There are many other benefits as well, such as improved job opportunities and the chance to read foreign literature as the author intended.

The most popular language courses in Britain are Spanish courses. Arguably the most useful of all foreign language courses, Spanish is also commonly seen as the easiest foreign language for native English speakers to learn. Pronunciation is generally easier than in French or Portuguese and there are estimated to be almost 900 million Spanish speakers around the world. Language schools in the UK often run a larger variety of Spanish classes more regularly than, say, German courses.

If you want to learn Spanish but cannot find the time in your diary to attend Spanish classes in a school, private tuition could be what you are looking for. Either organised through a school, agency or private advertisement, one-to-one tuition is more flexible than large groups, where the pace is dictated by the progress of the group. You can expect to make faster progress but will probably have to pay more for the privilege.

Language schools in the UK generally gear their businesses towards offering English courses to visitors or new residents from overseas. English is the most widely taught of all languages around the world and is the most commonly spoken second language. The language has achieved a kind of global hegemony in the years after World War II that spreads to both culture and business. The last language to hold the status of international lingua franca was French, although usage of the language has declined internationally in recent years. French courses are still the most popular language courses in British secondary schools.

The other popular option among the European languages is Italian. Not as widely spoken as Spanish, French or German, Italian is often referred to as the language of romance. Italian courses are a popular option among people who can already speak French or Spanish.

If you want to learn a language, the first place to consider should be a local language school. If the school does not run the course you desire, they could well be in a position to put you in touch with a qualified teacher in the area who offers private classes.
