| No hay e-mail disponible | | Descripción | | Since its establishment in late 1995 as the first and most historic university of Lao PDR, the National University of Laos (NUOL) has developed into one of the leading universities in the Lao PDR.
The establishment of NUOL, aiming at the consolidation and reform of higher education in the Lao PDR, was preceded by the amalgamation of the nine higher learning institutions under the responsibilities of different Ministries (Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Agriculture and Forest, and the Ministry of Communication, Transport, Post Telecommunication and Construction)
NUOL is a multi-campus university located in Vientiane, the national capital (approximate population: 500,000), 9 km from the city center and easily accessible by any means of ground transportation. It vision, as the leading university of the Lao PDR, is to be recognized by the universities in the region, as well as universities in the world. Our university will play a leading role in the dynamic development of the country and its economy through advancing knowledge, and our research, widely known for diversity of programs, will help solve the most challenging social, cultural and technical problems our country faces. NUOL will be a place to advance the well-being of the Lao people in addition to the global community through the creation and exchange of knowledge.
In order to realize this vision, NUOL has set its mission as: providing higher education in the areas required by the social and economic development of Lao PDR; promoting and performing research in natural and social sciences; preserving and expanding the arts, culture and traditions of the multi-ethnic nation; and finally, providing technical services to the society. NUOL has established extensive academic exchanges and cooperation with over sixty overseas institutions focusing mostly on student/scholar exchanges, staff development, joint research, join seminars, and exchange of academic publications.
