On June 21, 2004, the Hungarian Parliament had passed the Act No. LXI. to establish a Hungarian private higher education institution under the name Közép-európai Egyetem (Central European University) -- the act came into force on April 1, 2005 (published in Magyar Közlöny No. 42/2005), meaning full Hungarian accreditation.
