Tacoma Community College, established in 1965, is a fully accredited state school that welcomes students for English language, academic and professional-technical studies. Students in academic programs obtain an associate degree and then transfer to a four-year university to complete the last two years of a bachelor's degree. Most academic majors are offered, and students are served by a modern library, a new computer center and several computer laboratories. The 150 acre (60-hectare) campus is situated in a safe urban area.

La escuela de Estudios de Inglés como Segunda Lengua fue fundada en 1967 y sirve de modelo para otras escuelas de estudios superiores de primer ciclo.
