Latin Dance can be associated with social or ballroom dance. This dance originated from the Latin America and Caribbean Islands. Dance instructors also classify argentine dance or tango, as a form of Latin Dance.

For students who are aspiring to take this Major, be ready for numerous dance sport competitions. Dance sport competitions are contests that enhance the dancing abilities of both amateur and professional dancers. It is divided into two categories; the Amateur Latin and the Professional Latin. Once students became well educated with the basics of Latin Dance, they are immediately called as Amateur dancers.

All ballroom dance’ music was set to a 4/4 time. An exception would be the Cuban music that was set on a 2/4 time.

Ideally, this dance was executed with a partner in semi-open, face-to-face, or close-contact position. It is also essential to build a rapport with your partner; as “connection” holds a strong influence in the overall dance performance, and a catchy Latin American music that adds spice in the presentation.

Students, who would like to take this course, must have an interest in the Latin American culture, with dancing, as well as Latin music. An essential tip for making a great dance performance is the music that brings life to the execution of the routine, and of course; dancing through the heart.
