Dance Schools and Programs in Spain
Dance
Students learn and perform the rich fields of Latin and Spanish dance at SLU-Madrid. Collectively, dances that come from the Caribbean are known as Latin dance. Examples are: Salsa cubana, salsa en línea, cha cha chá, cumbia, bachata, merengue and bolero. SLU-Madrid also offers the dance that is more generally thought of as a ballroom dance, Argentine tango.
Flamenco is an illustration of Spanish popular culture that is centuries old, it was derived from blending Andalusian folk dancing and choreographic features from the Roma community that had settled in Southern Spain. It is distinguished by the rhythmic movements of the dancer together with the music.
Flamenco is an old expression of Spanish popular culture, like other cultural expressions, it’s been changed and revitalized by the influences coming from pop and jazz music.
