Can boys and girls dorm together at MSU?

REHS at Michigan State University (MSU) is pleased to offer gender-inclusive housing (GIH) to our new and returning students. Gender-inclusive housing means that, in select spaces, students from all gender identities and expressions may choose to live together.

Does MSU allow coed dorms?

We offer a variety of living options on-campus for residents to select from including co-ed and single gender residence halls. University Student Housing works with our partners at the Diversity and Inclusion Student Commons to ensure that students have access to resources and support throughout the University.

Can boys and girls share a room in dorms?

Most colleges have one girls-only dorm. Otherwise, yes, for the most part they share. If each room or suite has its own bathroom, males and females may share the same floor. Some colleges have the girls' bathroom on one end of the building and boys on the other, and other colleges separate boys and girls by floor.
