Does Florida Virtual School give you a laptop?

Laptops are available on a first come, first served basis. If we have laptops available, we will be able to provide an approximate ship date for a laptop once we have confirmed financial eligibility, the student is enrolled in FLVS Full Time, and the student has completed the Welcome Call with his/her teacher.

Do you get a diploma with Florida Virtual School?

FLVS Full Time offers diplomas for students who graduate from our full-time public school. Find more information about this option here. FLVS Flex does not currently grant a diploma. Instead, credits are transferred back to the student's local school to count towards their graduation requirement.

What is the age limit for Florida Virtual School?

Students enrolling in Grade 1 must be 6 years old on or before September 1 in the school year for which they are enrolling and must have successfully completed a Kindergarten program. Students can enroll through age 19 but must complete their courses before age 21.

Is FLVS considered homeschool?

Students enrolling into the local public school or transitioning into Florida Virtual School Full Time will be held accountable for all district graduation requirements and will no longer be considered a homeschool student.

Does FLVS provide a computer?

All laptops are provided to students to support their academic performance and completion of class assignments. The program limit is set as a once-per-lifetime laptop per student.

What GPA do you need for FLVS?

Students must earn a 2.0 grade point average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale for all cohort years and pass statewide, standardized assessments unless a waiver of assessment results is granted by the IEP team for students with disabilities.

Does FLVS cost money?

As a fully accredited online public school for Kindergarten–12th grade, we offer comprehensive, full-time, tuition-free learning for all Florida students. Students follow a fixed, 180-day school year schedule from August to May.

Can you skip assignments on FLVS?

Any assignment exemption will appear with an “ex” in your child's gradebook. Step 4: The Instructional Leader/Assistant Principal will respond with approval that covers the lesson content that your child is now able to skip.

Can you fail FLVS?

FLVS may, at its discretion, require a proctored segment exam for any student on a situational basis. Academic Integrity proctored exams must be successfully passed (grade of 59.5% or higher) on the first attempt for a student to be eligible for course credit.

How fast can you finish hope on FLVS?

HOPE is a two-segment course and, per NCAA regulations, you must spend at least 21 days in each segment. That means the soonest you can finish the entire HOPE course is 42 days from your start date. You'll read more about this "21-day-per-segment seat time requirement" in the course, so don't panic.

How many classes do you have to take in FLVS?

Students are required to complete 6 courses during the semester of graduation. This is an accreditation requirement. Students who need less than 6 credits to meet graduation requirements are not eligible for a diploma through Florida Virtual School.

How many FLVS assignments per week?

Students should be able to complete a segment (semester) of a course during an 18 week period (2 floating vacation weeks). In general, this equates to 2-3 assignments per week, per course. Each course provides its own pacing guide.

What happens if you fail a FLVS class?

A student who does not complete and pass every discussion-based assessment in the course is ineligible for course credit.

How long is FLVS full time?

Do you need a computer for FLVS?

Does Florida pay for homeschooling?

As of 2023, any homeschooler in the state can apply for Florida's education savings account program. Participating families receive their child's education funds (about $8,000) in an online account and can use those funds for homeschool expenses, online learning, or even an approved class at a local public school.

Can you do Florida Virtual School over the summer?

Available to public, private, charter and homeschool students, FLVS Flex offers year-round enrollment, and students have the flexibility to start and finish a course at any time.
