Can FLVS detect cheating?

FLVS instructors utilize technologies to check for authenticity. Copying, knowingly allowing others to copy from you, and/or misusing the internet content could result in removal from your course. Academic integrity is the cornerstone of learning at FLVS.

What is the difference between FLVS Flex and FLVS?

FLVS flex is the way it sounds, more flexible. FLVS flex does use the same curriculum and teachers as FLVS, this is not flexible. However, you may pick and choose classes instead of having to take all courses offered for your middle or high school child's grade level which is why they termed is FLVS flex.

Do FLVS students get Microsoft Office for free?

Do you need a computer for FLVS?

We recommend students have a Windows or Mac based computer available to complete coursework in the event that your selected mobile device does not meet the needs of the course. Some courses may have different or additional requirements to the one listed on this page.

Is FLVS Flex considered homeschool?

FLVS Flex allows students to take one or more online courses anytime during the year. It is open to homeschool students who want to customize their own schedule and curriculum or traditional students who take the majority of their courses at a public or private school.

Does FLVS Flex count as school?

Homeschool students with FLVS Flex do not earn a traditional high school diploma; instead, home education parents graduate their students by completing the Home School Affidavit.

Does FLVS Flex affect GPA?

School FLVS Flex (CEEB Code 101-541) is a public, non-diploma granting curriculum providing institution. Honors weighting is determined at school of record. GPA is calculated at school of record or by home education parent because of this FLVS does not rank students.

Can you get kicked out of FLVS?

These consequences range from a reduced score on an assignment up to expulsion from FLVS coursework for up to one year. Additionally, final grades may be rescinded if you are found to have copied or plagiarized after the grade has been posted to your transcript.

Can you quit FLVS?

If a classroom has not been assigned yet, the course can be dropped from your child's dashboard. Once a classroom is assigned, you will need to call or email the assigned teacher to request withdrawal.

How do teachers know if you cheat online?

Some Learning Management Systems can detect your keystrokes to ensure you're not copying and pasting or to detect typing patterns for a particular student. Others can track your IP address to check if another student in another location is posing as you.

How do FLVS Flex students graduate?

FLVS Full Time offers diplomas for students who graduate from our full-time public school. Find more information about this option here. FLVS Flex does not currently grant a diploma. Instead, credits are transferred back to the student's local school to count towards their graduation requirement.

Can you finish FLVS Flex early?

Students can take one, multiple, or all of their courses with FLVS, and with year-round enrollment, students have the freedom to start and finish a course at any time.

How much does FLVS Flex cost?

All FLVS Flex courses are offered FREE to Florida students and taught by dedicated, certified teachers. With year-round, 24/7 access, these mastery-based courses allow students to learn on their own schedule and at a flexible pace.

How many classes can you take on FLVS Flex?

Take all 6 courses through Florida Virtual School while not enrolled in a traditional school or registered as a homeschool student. Participate in state standardized testing. Follow a fixed school year schedule from August to May. Enroll prior to first or second semester.

Can you do FLVS Flex over the summer?

Students may enroll in courses throughout the year. Public school students who successfully completed a grade level and were promoted may not enroll in FLVS courses in the summer if the student will be enrolled in the same courses in the school of record the following fall.

What is the grace period for FLVS Flex?

FLVS will place students as close to their preferred start date as possible. Refund Policy Following placement and activation in a course, the student has a 14-day grace period during which he or she may withdraw from the course and receive a full refund.

Is unschooling legal in Florida?

Yes! Unschooling is perfectly legal in Florida. The state makes no requirements in terms of materials or methods used, so if you want to take the student-led unschooling approach, you are free to do so.

Does Florida pay for homeschooling?

Does Florida pay for homeschooling? While the state itself doesn't provide education vouchers, the Step Up for Students program is a state-approved, nonprofit scholarship program that provides funding for homeschool families.

Does FLVS do GPA?

As FLVS Flex is the curriculum provider, we do not calculate GPA. You can calculate a general GPA by using this basic formula. FLVS Flex and most public schools in Florida follow semesters/segments which makes it simple.

Does FLVS have textbooks?

FLVS does not send textbooks or other materials to you. Our “textbooks” are all online in the form of your course lessons!

How long does it take for FLVS to place you in a class?

Once the student's preferred start date has arrived, students can expect to be placed in their course within just a few days, although the process can, in rare instances take longer. We recommend checking your student dashboard once per day to monitor your placement status.
