How long does it take to enroll in FLVS?

Once a student registers for online courses on FLVS.net, his/her school counselor will be automatically notified of the FLVS course enrollment. The student's guidance counselor will then approve the selected online courses within 3-5 business days.

How long does it take for an FLVS course to be assigned?

Students will be placed in their requested courses as soon as possible, in most cases, within 72 hours after completing registration and required approvals. Occasionally placement may take longer due to high enrollment, during these times we strive to place students within 14 days of your selected preferred start date.

How do I enroll my child in Florida Virtual School?

Visit flvs.net/enrollft to begin the online enrollment application. Be sure to upload all required documents (proof of age, proof of residency, proof of immunization, academic records, etc.) and click submit when finished. Please note: The application must be fully submitted before the review process can begin.

Can you start FLVS in the middle of the year?

Available to public, private, charter and homeschool students, FLVS Flex offers year-round enrollment, and students have the flexibility to start and finish a course at any time.

Can you enroll in FLVS at any time?

Students may enroll in courses throughout the year. Public school students who successfully completed a grade level and were promoted may not enroll in FLVS courses in the summer if the student will be enrolled in the same courses in the school of record the following fall.

The Laptop Learner Program is available to FLVS Full Time or FLEX students who have been enrolled in FLVS Full Time or FLEX for at least one year and, due to financial hardship, do not have a laptop to support their academic performance.

Can you quit FLVS?

If a classroom has not been assigned yet, the course can be dropped from your child's dashboard. Once a classroom is assigned, you will need to call or email the assigned teacher to request withdrawal.

How many FLVS assignments per week?

Students should be able to complete a segment (semester) of a course during an 18 week period (2 floating vacation weeks). In general, this equates to 2-3 assignments per week, per course. Each course provides its own pacing guide.

Is Florida Virtual School hard?

There isn't much academic pressure, honestly. Most classes require you to turn in 3–5 assignments a week, so you stay on pace. The classes are actually quite easy, if you ask me.

What is the grace period in FLVS?

FLVS will place students as close to their preferred start date as possible. Refund Policy Following placement and activation in a course, the student has a 14-day grace period during which he or she may withdraw from the course and receive a full refund.

Do FLVS students get a diploma?

FLVS Full Time offers diplomas for students who graduate from our full-time public school. Find more information about this option here. FLVS Flex does not currently grant a diploma. Instead, credits are transferred back to the student's local school to count towards their graduation requirement.

For public and most private school students, this is easy as most schools will calculate this for you! However, as a Home Education student, the parent is the school administrator and will be the one to calculate the GPA. As FLVS Flex is the curriculum provider, we do not calculate GPA.

At what age can you no longer attend high school in Florida?

When a student reaches 16 years of age he/she is no longer required to attend school if he/she files the required formal declaration of intent to terminate school enrollment with the school district and the declaration is signed by the parent.

Can you do FLVS during the summer?

We offer a wide variety of online courses for Kindergarten–12th grade that are tailored to student needs. With year-round, 24/7 access, students complete courses when and where they want—at home from the comfort of home, during a free period at school, or while traveling over summer break.

How does FLVS full time work?

FLVS Full Time is a public school that allows students to take all classes online (a total of six courses) and follow the standard school year. With FLVS Flex, traditional or homeschool students customize their schedule with one or more courses.
