How strict is Proctorio?

Proctorio has no file access of any kind. Proctorio cannot and will not access any of your personal files or documents. During an exam Proctorio may take screenshots of your desktop, detect the number of computer monitors connected to your computer, or record your web traffic.

What can instructors see on Proctorio?

How does Proctorio catch cheating?

Does Proctorio know if you use your phone?

If you place your phone on your laptop screen during an exam, the proctoring system may detect this behavior and flag it as suspicious. The system may then alert your instructor or proctor, who will review the footage and determine whether or not you were attempting to cheat.

How will I know if Proctorio flagged me?

The suspicion level is a quick calculation based on the aggregation of frames during the exam which were deemed suspicious and the detection of abnormal behavior. The Proctorio Gradebook will color code and list students by a suspicion score to highlight the suspicious attempts for review.
