Can Florida Virtual School students play sports?

FS. 1006.15 allows FLVS Full Time students meeting specific academic and conduct requirements to participate in extracurricular activities at the public school to which they would be assigned by their resident district.

What is the difference between FLVS Flex and FLVS?

FLVS flex is the way it sounds, more flexible. FLVS flex does use the same curriculum and teachers as FLVS, this is not flexible. However, you may pick and choose classes instead of having to take all courses offered for your middle or high school child's grade level which is why they termed is FLVS flex.

Does FLVS Flex affect GPA?

School FLVS Flex (CEEB Code 101-541) is a public, non-diploma granting curriculum providing institution. Honors weighting is determined at school of record. GPA is calculated at school of record or by home education parent because of this FLVS does not rank students.

Does FLVS raise your GPA?

Can FLVS detect cheating?

FLVS instructors utilize technologies to check for authenticity. Copying, knowingly allowing others to copy from you, and/or misusing the internet content could result in removal from your course. Academic integrity is the cornerstone of learning at FLVS.

Can you finish FLVS Flex early?

Students can take one, multiple, or all of their courses with FLVS, and with year-round enrollment, students have the freedom to start and finish a course at any time.

Is FLVS Flex homeschool?

FLVS Flex allows students to take one or more online courses anytime during the year. It is open to homeschool students who want to customize their own schedule and curriculum or traditional students who take the majority of their courses at a public or private school.

How does FLVS Flex work?

FLVS Flex offers year-round, rolling enrollment so students can start and finish an individual course at any time. Public, private, and home education students can utilize FLVS Flex courses.

Does NCAA recognize credit recovery?

For a credit recovery program to be approved, the courses must meet the following requirements: The courses must meet NCAA core-course requirements and, in some instances, nontraditional course requirements. The high school must follow its credit recovery policies, regardless if the student is an athlete.

Do online courses count for NCAA?

Students can take NCAA-approved online learning courses via Imagine Learning's Instructional Services group, who are highly qualified, state-certified virtual instructors. Imagine Learning's curriculum and instructional model has been reviewed by NCAA and found to meet the requirements for online courses.

What is NCAA-approved curriculum?

Only classes in English, math (Algebra 1 or higher), natural or physical science, social science, foreign language, comparative religion or philosophy may be approved as NCAA core courses. Remedial classes and classes completed through credit-by-exam are not considered NCAA core courses.

Does dual enrollment affect NCAA eligibility?

Dual-enrollment coursework may be used to satisfy NCAA core-course requirements if the course appears on your high school transcript with grade and credit and meets all requirements for an NCAA-approved core course.

Can you quit FLVS?

If a classroom has not been assigned yet, the course can be dropped from your child's dashboard. Once a classroom is assigned, you will need to call or email the assigned teacher to request withdrawal.

What does CI mean on FLVS?

CI (Contact Instructor) – Student's course access has been temporarily disabled until student contacts teacher by phone.

How do teachers know if you cheat online?

Some Learning Management Systems can detect your keystrokes to ensure you're not copying and pasting or to detect typing patterns for a particular student. Others can track your IP address to check if another student in another location is posing as you.

Can you graduate with FLVS Flex?

FLVS Flex homeschool students are not eligible to receive a diploma or GED directly from FLVS. However, students enrolled in FLVS Full Time do graduate with a diploma.

Students may enroll in courses throughout the year. Public school students who successfully completed a grade level and were promoted may not enroll in FLVS courses in the summer if the student will be enrolled in the same courses in the school of record the following fall.

Does FLVS honor an IEP?

All students at FLVS have access to many accommodations that naturally occur in the virtual setting. FLVS may also be able to provide additional accommodations per a student's IEP or 504 Plan if the accommodation(s) is/are applicable to the online educational environment.

How fast can you finish hope on FLVS?

HOPE is a two-segment course and, per NCAA regulations, you must spend at least 21 days in each segment. That means the soonest you can finish the entire HOPE course is 42 days from your start date. You'll read more about this "21-day-per-segment seat time requirement" in the course, so don't panic.
