How do students access CommonLit?

Step 1: Sign Up with CommonLit

Enter your class code. Then you will be prompted to enter a first and last name and password. You have the option to add an email address to your account. If the email is linked to Google, you will be able to click "Login With Google" in the future to sign in quickly.

Is CommonLit public domain?

No, not all texts on CommonLit can be freely used, shared, remixed, and repurposed. While the CommonLit Library includes many texts that are openly licensed, not all texts on the site are openly licensed.

Can parents use CommonLit?

Can I create an account on CommonLit? Parents cannot currently sign up for a CommonLit account, but they can browse many of the Library resources and learn about other CommonLit offerings without an account.

On an assessment's Analyze Data page, you will see your students' scaled scores, percent correct, and multiple-choice percentages as well as a percentile ranking for how they did compared to other students in their grade who took the same grade-level assessment. You will see them grouped by percentile and scaled score.

Does CommonLit sync with Google Classroom?

Yes, CommonLit is integrated with Google Classroom. You can import your Google Classroom classes and student rosters into CommonLit, post assignments straight to your Google Classroom stream from CommonLit, and export scores to your Google Classroom grade book.

To view their data, students can click on the My Performance tab when logged into their CommonLit account. From there, they will be able to see their Overall Score, Multiple Choice % Correct, and Short Answer Average (0-4).

Can students redo assignments on CommonLit?

Yes! Students do not have to finish an assignment on the CommonLit digital platform in one sitting. As long as the student clicks the Save and Next button at the bottom of the question after selecting or writing each of their answers, their progress will be saved.
